According to the news release from Geneva Braziel, Creekwood school administration contacted the police department out of concern for the safety of "the student, other classmates, and the school staff".

The school district also outlined what led up to the their contacting police in the release:

"As has been reported, on Friday, a student engaged in violent and disruptive behavior that resulted in police involvement. The student's behavior included pushing several other students; running away from the school staff; slamming chairs around the school office; climbing up and knocking over a bookcase; knocking pictures off the wall; scribbling over the walls and door; and injuring a school employee."

The district says due to confidentiality laws, they cannot make any further comment. The news release also refers any questions about the decision to handcuff Salecia Johnson to the Milledgeville Police Department. --Video
