Washington, DC -- Federal income tax rates would have to be more than doubled across the income spectrum if Congress were to close the deficit in fiscal year 2010, according to a new report from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation. Instead of taxing joint filers with rates ranging from 10 percent to 35 percent, tax rates would have to start at 24.3 percent and reach up to 84.9 percent.

The Board of County Commissioners voted Thursday to hold a public hearing on the county’s proposed plans for administering public housing programs. The public hearing will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, in Room 311 of the County Office Building. The plans, called the Streamlined Annual PHA Plan for Fiscal Year 2010 and the Five-Year Plan, establish goals and guidelines of the Carroll County Bureau of Housing in the administration of the Federal Section 8 Program.
