2010 could be a rough ride for climate alarmists.

Climate alarmists took some nasty blows in 2009 with the breaking of "ClimateGate," the failure to pass "cap-and-trade" legislation in the U.S., and the failure of the Copenhagen climate treaty talks in December -- and 2010 could see that streak of bad luck continue.

CANBERRA (Reuters) - Australia's parliament rejected laws to set up a carbon trading scheme on Wednesday, scuttling a key climate change policy of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and providing a potential trigger for an early 2010 election.

Acting Prime Minister Julia Gillard said the government would re-introduce the carbon trade bills in February to give the opposition Liberal Party one more chance to support the scheme, adding the government was not looking at an early election.

As Air Force One heads to Copenhagen for the climate summit Dec. 9, it will presumably not make a U-turn while flying over the Climate Research Unit (CRU) at University of East Anglia near Norwich, England. But perhaps it should.

The 61 megabytes of CRU e-mails and documents made public by a hacker cast serious doubt on the ballyhooed consensus on manmade global warming that the Copenhagen summit was called to address.
