The ad (click here for link), will premiere Friday night on Fox's Glenn Beck, and features Brian Murphy, his wife, Joy, and their four children. The TV spot focuses on the importance of entrepreneurs to the Maryland economy, Ehrlich and O'Malley’s failed economic policies, and Brian’s unique perspective to address the budget as a business owner.
The Refuse to Settle Tour also commences today with a lunch with supporters at Fitzgerald's Shamrock Restaurant in Thurmont, and will include stops in every county and Baltimore City. Tonight, Brian will throw out the first pitch at the Frederick Keys regular season finale, where he will address the expected crowd of 6,500, and the commercial will air on the stadium's jumbo screen.
"I love Maryland and I love Marylanders. That's why we've been working so hard since January. It's time to face facts: our budget's broken, the last two governors did it, and I'm here to fix it," said Murphy.
“We have the right message to win both the Primary and the General. Between now and the Primary, we have to ask Republican voters one simple question: Will they vote for a candidate who shares their views on fiscal responsibility and American family values, or will they settle for the 'lesser of two evils?'" said Murphy.
"Our TV campaign will reach almost 500,000 viewers every day. My opponent’s strategy is to convince voters they need to settle in order to win the General Election. But he’s losing that argument, because my message resonates with all Marylanders. And the state tour is one last chance to shake hands and look Marylanders in the eye before the Primary,” said Murphy.
Murphy is the only Gubernatorial Candidate who:
- Signed a no new tax pledge;
- Proposed a three-year plan to eliminate Maryland’s punitive corporate income tax;
- Is 100% pro-life;
- Has committed to making Maryland a “shall issue” state in defense of 2nd Amendment rights;
- Supports implementing legislation similar to Arizona’s SB 1070 and 287(g) to address illegal immigration.
Due to Murphy's surge in popularity, Ehrlich has attempted to modify his stances on tax increases, government spending and illegal immigration.
"Ehrlich's record confirms he has no interest in any core Republican values. I am confident Primary voters will remember his record when they vote for me on Sept. 14th," said Murphy.
Brian Murphy and Robert Ehrlich are running in the Republican Primary on September 14. Governor Martin O’Malley is running in the Democratic Party Primary on September 14. The winners of the respective parties’ elections will square off against each other in the November 2 General Election.
