Herman Cain wins Tea Party straw poll in Illinois

Chicago Tribune -- SCHAUMBURG, Ill.— Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain has won a Tea Party straw poll in suburban Chicago.
The Georgia businessman received 77 percent of votes from TeaCon 2011 participants on Saturday in Schaumburg. The convention included representatives from Tea Party groups in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin. Cain received a standing ovation and told the crowd the country's biggest crisis is "a severe leadership deficit" in Washington.
U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota came in second and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was third. The Daily Herald reports that about 700 people attended the convention. ... more ...
