Rutledge: Mikulski Brags about Federal Government Spending

FOREST HILL, Maryland- Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Jim Rutledge of Maryland supports extending the Bush Administration tax cuts. Jim Rutledge believes Barbara Mikulski should help create jobs and restore consumer confidence by lowering taxes not raising them.  The necessary incentives should be provided to investors and industry alike to create jobs and stimulate the economy. Jim Rutledge said, “We have to provide incentives and reward people for creating jobs not punish them. Raising taxes and trillion dollars deficits will only work to prolong the economic recession.”

The Rutledge for Senate Campaign believes Barbara Mikulski’s arrogant attitude towards her continued spending is an affront to every Marylander. In recent press releases, Mikulski brags about “filling the federal checkbook” with the hard-earned dollars of Maryland taxpayers. Mikulski claims that somehow more federal dollars will take the burden off local taxpayers. Mikulski has even stated the federal budget is “skimpy and spartan”.

Jim Rutledge doesn’t believe filling the federal government checkbook is the solution to restoring fiscal accountability in Washington. Barbara Mikulski keeps spending while Marylanders are forced to pay back all the debt she is creating. Jim Rutledge said, “Mikulski would have us believe that all this money is free when in fact we’re going to have to pay it back with interest.”

Mikulski and Barack Obama do have an answer to deficit spending and that’s more taxes. Jim Rutledge understands that it’s wrong for Barbara Mikulski to keep spending while families are looking for ways to save money and tighten their belt. Jim Rutledge will fight to reduce taxes and help create jobs not brag about how much he can steal from your paycheck.
