Taylor: Peace is Patriotic!

Good morning! I saw that, and wanted to pass it on to all of you. Yesterday on the TV news, I heard that we are now in the 13th month of economic growth, and that the banks also had a good last quarter. That's good news---maybe now the banks will start loaning money again, which is what the Federal bailouts of 2009 were supposed to accomplish. We'll see.***

I always enjoy reading the online newsletters from US Sen. Benjamin Cardin's office, and also that of Congressman John Sarbanes. Oddly, I haven't ever received one either from US Sen. Barbara Mikulski (since 1986) or from my own Congressman, Dutch Ruppersberger, since he entered the Congress. Oh, well, that's that.***

Congressman Sarbanes says that he is trying to keep teachers on the job in the light of today's governmental budget cuts. I'm glad that he is.He is also working to keep our colleges affordable and to strenghten Federal financial aid packages for students who want to attend, plus making student loan repayments affordable---also good to know. I've met him. He doesn't project well, but I suppose he's trying. If he would come out against all these wars he's backing, I'd like him a lot better. Oddly, his father ran as an anti-war candidate for Congress the first time in 1970, when I went door to door for him. The difference was he was a Democrat running against the then GOP Vietnam War. Now that the major warmonger is a Democrat in the White House, the current Congressman Sarbanes backs him all the way. Too bad. 2012 is going to be another 1968, with a lot of pro-war legislators tossed out. He may be among them. Several are going to go this time.***

That's all for now. I'll have more tomorrow, as we approach our annual Labor Day weekend holiday. Early Voting starts tomorrow. I'd

be honored to have your vote, and I respectfully ask for it now. Thank you.

Good morning!
