Bleed You Before You Go, Pick the Bones Dry Upon Expiration -- Maryland Worst State For Retirement

Zero Hedge | Tyler Durden - It's not surprising whatsoever that Maryland has been ranked the worst state for retirement, according to a new Bankrate study. The state has a whole list of problems, mainly due to it's out of control taxation by local governments, the implosion of Baltimore City, unaffordable housing, and the high cost of living.

This is what socialism or brown-shirting looks like. It begins within public indoctrination and monitoring centers, IE: public schools. Where children are really just wards of the state to mold into conformity.

Wait 'til taxpayers get the bill -- Maryland General Assembly override vetoes of $15 minimum wage, comptroller's oversight

Madness, pure madness. It's important to note every public employee in the state will get a boost in salary when all pay scales are adjusted up to keep up-scale positions competitive. The costs will become consequential and significant when the next round of budget demands roll around.

Maryland’s General Assembly took swift action Thursday to override Gov. Larry Hogan’s veto of a bill that will gradually increase the state’s minimum wage to $15 per hour.

MD Gov. Hogan vetoes minimum wage hike, school start bill

The public union contrived $15 minimum wage gambit has more to do with gifting public employees a windfall without negotiation. Legislators must give taxpayers a full accounting of the cost and the eventual tax increases to be foisted on Maryland taxpayers before any legislation is enacted. A little transparency here would be helpful, more importantly, required.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) – Gov. Larry Hogan has vetoed a measure to raise Maryland’s minimum wage to $15, as well as a measure to give local school boards the ability to decide whether school starts before or after Labor Day.

Raising minimum wage to $15 will impact all Maryland taxpayers negatively

Somebody will have to pay for this folly. The larger point here will be the entire government pay scale structure will be adjusted, effectively handing every state, county and municipal public employee, no matter the scale, a $5 an hour windfall. The public-union inspired $15 per hour gambit will grow budgets above and beyond the cost-of-living increases gifted to public employees annually. All taxpayers will be on the hook with smaller paychecks and increased property taxes to fund an exponentially overpaid dysfunctional government.
